Rules &
Regulations
|
|
The organization aims for:
 |
an
attractive and competitive tournament |
 |
a best
possible mix of nationalities |
 |
fair-play |
 |
but
particularly a
great gaming time and lots of fun
|
For
an event like the European Championship some rules & regulations have
been set up. With
the rules and regulations the organization wants to give a clear insight
and understanding of the decisions made by the organization, as well what
is expected from the players. Hopefully this will be beneficial for the
tournament and the joy of play in particularly.
|
| Subscription |
|
 |
Each team has to consist out of 4 players. One player is assigned as team
captain and will be the prime contact for the organization. |
 |
Teams
may participate based on their ranking during national championships.
In case no (official) national championship are being held, the
teams may subscribe and their subscription will be handled in order of
receipt.
|
 |
Teams will receive confirmation of subscription. In case no
confirmation has been received within 10 working days, contact the
organization.
|
 |
Due to limited places it could occur that too many teams are signed
up for the championships. In this case the organization will decide as
follows:
|
-
A best balance of nationalities will be
remained;
-
Teams taken part in national championships have preferences, and
their admittance will be based on their national ranking.
-
For
countries where no national
championships are being held, the admittance will be
based on order of receipt of subscriptions.
 |
Teams who may take part will receive an
invitation. Teams who are excluded
will receive a notification.
|
 |
On receipt of the invitation the teams are requested to pay a
participation fee of EURO 85.- in advance.
|
 |
On receipt of payment each team
will receive in return:
|
-
A set of the 4 games to be played during the championship will be
send in advance of the tournament for training purposes. This way each
team is able to learn the rules, practice, develop tactics and ask rule
clarifications. It is
expected that all members of the team know the rules during the tournament.
This set becomes property of the team and it is not necessary to
bring the copies along during the tournament.
-
Another set of the games after the
tournament. The team captain collects the games played during the
tournament.
-
A chance to
win the European title and nice prices.
 |
Teams
can receive a discount on their participation fee, in case they decide
not to receive the training copies, but collect them their selves. The
discount is similar to the P&P savings for the organization. |
 |
In
case a team withdraws the participation fee will not refunded as most
costs occur before the tournament. But the team is free to find a
replacement team or members so that their position is filled. In case
he organization is informed timely in advance and is able to find a
reserve team, the participation fee minus expenses made will be
refunded. |
 |
The organization
contains of volunteers only and works on a non-profit base. Any
positive cash flow will be used to improve and continue EuropeMasters.
|
|
| Tournament/Convention |
|
 |
The tournament exists of 4 playing rounds. Each round a single game
is simultaneous played by all participants. The individual score per team
member per game (5, 3, 2 or 1 point) is added together and this gives the
team result.
Maximum score possible is 80 points (4x4x5). |
 |
From
all participants fair play is expected. The organization is
obliged to take counter measurements in case of non-fair play. In extreme
cases this could result into exclusion from remainder of tournament,
either the individual player or even the whole team.
|
 |
During
tournament play, the referee can be called in case of a
question/dispute regarding current or possible game situation.
"Errors" in prior rounds of play will not be corrected and
have to be accepted. In
case the decision of the referee is not accepted, the main referee
will be called and his decision is decisive. Players may sign protest,
the organization will collect the protest ad will give feedback at a
later stage, but the game will be continued based on the decision
made. In case the player refuses to continue, this is not regarded as
fair-play and the player can be dispelled from this specific
game. |
 |
The
organization tries to clarify the rules in advance. But teams may also
point out and request for rule clarifications. The organization
collects all questions and post the answers to all participating
teams. Note: In case you build a specific tactic around your own
interpretation of a rule, and it comes to a dispute during the
tournament, it could happen that the referee decides against your
interpretation of the rule. So check always the interpretation of a
rule if you are not 100% sure and want to base a playing tactic on it.
Note that if the organization believes your interpretation is obvious,
it will not be posted to other teams. This way the tactic will be
safeguarded. |
 |
Members of the
organization as well as their close relatives are excluded from
participation.
